Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, breaking McLaren’s winning streak by overtaking the lead at the start of the race. Lando Norris finished second after passing polesitter Oscar Piastri late in the race, with two safety car periods causing some changes in positions. Verstappen’s aggressive move from second on the grid to take the lead from Piastri at Tamburello impressed spectators. Despite early pitstops for some drivers, including Piastri and George Russell, Verstappen managed his tyre wear well and maintained a solid pace throughout the race. The virtual safety car and later full safety car situations affected the pit strategies, ultimately benefiting Verstappen and costing Norris some track position. In the end, Verstappen claimed his second victory of the 2025 season, with Norris in second and Piastri in third. The Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton, starting from the back due to qualifying issues, made good progress during the race but faced challenges with tire management and on-track incidents. Hamilton finished ahead of Leclerc after some position-swapping, demonstrating the ups and downs of a dramatic race at Imola.
